Benidorm becomes boom town for towers

Benidorm is breaking away from the usual concrete blandness of its architecture to explore something new and more radical. Construction is beginning on three towers and the selling of flats and apartments in another tower began in March. These towers are different and incorporate new forms of architecture in their design.

Residential in Tempo

This tower is due to start construction this month and great excitement has already been expressed. Once completed, it will be 200 metres tall with 52 floors. The design is more radical than the average Benidorm structures which are just boxed shaped towers with very little variation. This tower has a split in the middle which stops at the "gem". The antenna then finally rises from this.

Most surrounding buildings are low rise so this tower will stand out prominently.

Torre Lugano
This tower is already under construction and has surpassed the 20th floor. When completed, there will be 43 floors in this 158 metre tall tower. It will dominate the hillside it sits on and will rise above it's summit so will be visible for miles around.

The tower is bright and has a folding design. The pinnacle at the top gives the impression of a sail which would work with the nearby beach.

Edificio Don Jorge
Construction of this 36 storey tower has just begun with groundbreaking. The tower looks similar to other towers in Benidorm however shows a variety in colour choices. It is also on a hillside and will rise above the majority of the buildings in the city. The wavy appearance at the top will work with the beach which is located nearby.
