Is Chicago ready?

Worries have been expressed over the recent approval of the 610 metres tall Fordham Spire, which is due to transform the Chicago skyline when completed. The tower, which is said to resemble a plume of smoke rising from the banks of the Chicago River, will measure 488 metres to the top of the water tank before concluding in a striking spire with a light on top.

However, many have started wondering whether the tower would fit into the skyline which comprises mainly of box shaped buildings with simplistic designs. On top of this, the tower will be located between the two principal areas of skyscraper density which see the John Hancock tower to one side and Sears Tower and Aon Tower to the other side. The tower may isolate itself from the tall skyscrapers by being set in the middle of the pack.

The tower is an exciting development for Chicago which will see it breaking the record for the tallest building in the city.
