New London Skyscraper For 100 Bishopsgate

Developer, Great Portland Estates (GPE) have submitted a planning application for a new tower in the City of London at 100 Bishopsgate. The 40 floor office tower has been designed by architects, Allies and Morrison and will reach 165 metres in height. As well as the tower, in this case the design also unusually includes a large library as part of the planning gain that replaces the current library occupying the ground floor. The tower will contain 73,000 square metres of floor-space, there will be an additional 47,000 square metres in two neighbouring seven level buildings that are also part of the development. The site is near the strategic crossroads between Bishopsgate and Camomile Street that has become a developmental hotspot, not to mention the very heart of the emerging skyscraper cluster in the City of London. On one side is the already built 99 Bishopsgate whilst groundwork is underway on another corner for the planned Heron Tower. GPE are the latest of major land developers to line up for a skyscraper of their own in the City. It seems that with the list that now includes British Land, Heron Properties, Land Securities, and DIFA whilst CLS have a stake in nearby London Bridge Tower, you're not anyone important unless you have your own skyscraper development.
