Keangnam Excels in Overseas Building


Keangnam Enterprises, one of Korea’s leading construction giants, is paving the way to become a master builder of skyscrapers, plants, office buildings and apartments to name just a few in the global arena.
Over the past half century, Keangnam has carried out some 140 construction projects worth about $3.4 billion in 14 countries, including the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa.
The company is recognized for numerous overseas and domestic achievements that include winning a contract to build luxury housing in Seeduwa, Sri Lanka and an oil refinery in Victoria, Cameroon as well as the Korea Electric Power Cooperation (KEPCO) headquarters in Seoul.
With these well-known construction portfolios on its back, Keangnam has been the frontrunner in contributing to the country’s growth in the construction market, which accounts for about 9 percent of Korea’s gross domestic product (GDP).
As part of the company’s drive to go global, the builder has started to invest heavily in human resources and technological research and d e v e l o p m e n t beginning last year.
On the back of this striving investments and R&D, Keangnam expects to win orders worth over $400 million by the end of this year. It will continue to compete globally to win contracts by searching out opportunities to build new cities and large-scale housing in Asia including Sri Lanka and Vietnam where the company is currently carrying out housing projects.
It is also putting efforts into advancing to new global markets such as China, Kazakhstan and Yemen to develop value-added and futuristic power plants and oil refineries there, according to Keangnam officials.
